An Introduction to the History of Islamic Philosophy is a concise, multi-volume work authored by several contributors. The project’s conception, scholarly supervision, scientific editing, and authorship of three of its chapters were undertaken by the present author.
This three-volume series covers the major ideas of the most significant Islamic philosophers from the early period to contemporary times. It also includes chapters on the history of theology (kalam), logic, mysticism, and the sciences. This work has been published jointly by SAMT and the Imam Khomeini Educational and Research Institute as a textbook for both seminary and university courses. The first volume was published in 2011, the second in 2013, and the third in 2015. Chapter Ten, titled “Mysticism and Sufism and Their History”, authored by the same writer and included in the second volume, has been translated and published in English.
